Thurnians believe that there is only one God, named Thurn, who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. It is blasphemy to depict Thurn as Thurn is beyond physical form. A flame is used to represent Thurn. Thurn is thought to love those who love Thurn. Thurnians believe that to be ignored by Thurn is worse than to be punished by Thurn. Punishment from Thurn is a blessing as it teaches one how to achieve higher goodness. Thurnians are supposed to live by the code of Thurn which is as follows:
Some scholars believe that Law 7 was added later and is not the true word of Thurn. This is the greatest source of conflict within the church structure. Thurnians believe that one gains blessings from Thurn when one brings a new person to the faith or destroys an undead creature.
Thurnians believe that when they die, they will rejoin Thurn and their closeness to Thurn after death is based on their closeness to Thurn in life. Those who deny Thurn are have thought to have denied themselves and cease to exitst after death.
The first day of the week is set aside for the glorification of Thurn. Thurnians are required to use this day to develop their personal relationship with Thurn and ncrease their faith by attending glorification sceremonies, prayer meetings, or engage in individual prayer. Failure to do this can be very harmful to a cleric, mage, or paladin who derives their power from their faith in Thurn. Devotion to Thurn is also expressed through donations of money, goods, or serfs to the church. Parents gain blessings when their child becomes a priest or paladin of Thurn.
